St. Strigil, Patron Saint of Singing Insects, 2008 Oil on plywood, 167x365mm. The image is worked on a collage of paperbark previously applied at random to the timber surface. The colours are deliberately warm and wood-like, reminiscent of Eastern European religious images. The concept evolved through the suggestions evoked by the placement of the collaged elements. |
