These small oil paintings are a sample of an ongoing informal series which have been produced 'on the side' whilst working on other larger works. They represent a personal history, including my early training at the South Australian School of Art in the 1960s plus other art movements with which I have experimented. Sometimes they hint at the Surrealism that seems to occur naturally in Adelaide, with its clear light. Usually they are set up as a deliberate artistic challenge - 'visual sudoku'- the more difficult to resolve the better. But above all they are fun.
