EARLY WORK - DARWIN

Pool with Dry Season Sky
Acrylic on Canvas, 1980

Artbank Collection
This painting is from my first solo exhibition in Darwin, in 1980. This series dealt with tropical evening skies, with lightning storms and swimming pools lit from within, all of which were very exotic after Adelaide and Melbourne. All are acrylics on canvas, using hard-edge techniques combined with spraypaint and airbrush, as well as free brushwork. Due to the dearth of exhibition spaces at that time in Darwin, so recently destroyed by Cyclone Tracy, the exhibition was held in the private studio of an artist colleague. |
